SPRING 2026 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Primary Ballet (ages 4+, 45 minutes)
This class is a fun introduction to ballet and creative expression! Rhythm and musicality will be encouraged through joyful choreography, and story-telling through dance will be explored. (Royal Academy Pre-Primary Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet 1A (ages 5+, 60 minutes)
Students in Ballet 1A will learn beginning ballet skills as they participate in activities designed to help them strengthen their balance, coordination, and stamina. Creative expression and story-telling through dance will continue to be encouraged. (Royal Academy Primary Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet 1B (ages 6+, 60 minutes)
In this class, traveling movements are more complex, and dancers will work to master simple jump combinations. Coordination and control of the body, arms, hands, and head will be improved. Teamwork will grow as dancers work together to learn increasingly challenging choreography. (Royal Academy Grade 1 Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet 2 (ages 7+, 60 minutes)
Proper turnout and formal ballet positions will be taught in Ballet 2, along with exercises that help increase flexibility, strength, and balance. Emphasis will be placed on turning, jumping, and linking steps, and students will be introduced to simple grand allegro combinations. (Royal Academy Grade 2 Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet 3 (ages 8+, 90 minutes)
In this class, students will be introduced to a classical ballet routine, including occasional barre work, and dancers will work to increase their stamina. Proper form and alignment will be emphasized, and choreography will become more artistic and challenging, while still being enriching and fun! (Royal Academy Grade 3 Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet 4 (Ages 9+ with some ballet experience, must attend two classes a week 90 minutes)
A structured ballet class routine of barre work, center work, and corner work will be observed in this class. Dancers will continue to gain a thorough understanding of ballet vocabulary. The memorization of progressively difficult combinations will become increasingly important as dancers continue to be encouraged to find joy in dance and creative expression. (Royal Academy Grade 4 Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet 5 (Ages 10+, must attend two classes a week, 90 minutes)
This class will provide dancers with intermediate-level technique practice, along with the skills and strength training needed to prepare for pointe work. Students in this class will participate as a corps de ballet (group) in the recital. (Royal Academy Grade 5 Syllabus will be used.)
Ballet Technique Classes (60-75 minutes)
These are non-performing classes that will focus on building strength, increasing flexibility, and refining artistry and technique. These classes are important for Ballet 4 and Ballet 5 dancers as they prepare for advancement and future pointe work.
Ballet 6 (Ages 12+, must attend two classes a week, 90 minutes)
Students in these classes will be working on advanced-level technique. These students will participate in group dances, and they will also be given small group, duet, and solo opportunities. (Royal Academy Intermediate and Advanced Syllabi will be used.)
Pre-Pointe/Pointe 1 (Ages 12+, must be enrolled in Ballet 6, 30 minutes)
This class will focus on the building the strength needed for proper pointe dancing. Pre-Pointe and Pointe technique and training will be taught in a safe and structured way. Readiness of students to begin pointe will be determined by the teacher. (Royal Academy Intermediate Foundation Syllabus will be used.)
Pointe 2 (Ages 13+, 45 minutes)
For intermediate to advanced pointe students, this class will prepare dancers for classical variations and solo performances. (Royal Academy Intermediate and Advanced Foundation Syllabi will be used.)
